REPtember - Founded in 2015

We started an awareness and fundraising campaign for children and their parents to realise the benefits of functional movement exercises, all whilst raising money for great children’s charities and projects. The aim was to move more and raise more!

In one month we raised close to $2000 with 7 different charities benefiting!  In addition, over 500 social media followers from 10 global cities posted exercise challenge videos of themselves.  For more about the beginnings of REPtember visit http://www.reptember.com/about-reptember.

The children’s playground in one of the earliest REPtember social media posts featured fun and challenging equipment which we often take for granted in countries such as Australia; however, not all kids in countries across the world are so fortunate.

REPtember 2016

We are raising money to a build a playground for less fortunate children in Pachchilapalli in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. The people in this area faced 30 years of civil war with lives lost and children orphaned.

The school that existed in the area, Massar Governement Tamil Mixed School (GTMS), was severely damaged during the war and those children who were first to return were taught without a roof over their head, using trees to protect from sun and rain.  Fortunately, the Australian Government and UNICEF provided funding to rebuild the BASIC school, which now attracts 400 children from 5 surrounding villages, but there is no playground with swings, monkey bars, slides, ladders, ropes and other equipment that challenge and excite them.

A very generous family recently donated 3 acres of land to the school, which adjoins the school; however, there are currently no funds available to utilize the land in a way that would benefit the children. We have spoken to the Principal of the school and she has agreed to a section of the land being used to build a public playground that is looked after by the school, but open to all children, not only those attending the school.

If we all REP, POST, and DONATE this September then a playground would not only return hope for these kids, but also help build a healthier and happier future.
