Rham Children Park– It’s inception sparked from an experience I had while on a trip I embarked to Denmark, for a student exchange program with an organization called ICYE.
During my stay there I worked with kids sending them on play grounds to play, teaching them crafty works, assisting with their homework, among other things. There, I became fascinated at how fast and effectively these children could learn and pick skills up while they play. I got to the realization that indeed children could learn a lot on their playing time if provided the right facilities and proper guidance.
I thought about how unfortunate kids in third world countries are without these playgrounds and amazing facilities that their counterparts in developed countries were enjoying. I reasoned that if somehow I was able to establish some of these playgrounds in my home country Ghana, this could at least help keep kids off the streets. This could to some extent reduce the high rate of street incredibility and minimize rate of injuries and health hazards that kids risk playing at unsafe places. This could be a life changing experience for many of these kids.
I became so much inspired and started planning right away. Rham, which I chose from the first alphabets of my full name Robert Huud Awal Morlah became the name of the project. I acquired a logo for this project with assistance from a parent of one of the kids while on my experience in Denmark.
Now I have been able to acquire a piece of land and some building materials with money I earned from selling a property I inherited from my deceased parents. With these I intend to pursue this project with the help of members of a team I put together. Our only aim is to make this dream, a dream which we would like to share, become reality.
It is our sincere hope that our quest to change the lives of the less fortunate will meet the kindest and earliest consideration of anyone who sees this. God Bless!
