With Memoring, children play to learn words in several languages by turning the wheels and matching the meanings. Here, they learn English and become familiar with concepts related to their new life in Europe. The reason for this crowdfunding is to raise money to build this project in different camps, as there are 59 around Greece.
The game consists of four columns that represent different languages (Symbols, English, Arabic and Kurdish) using four different colours. Each column has five octagonal solids made with thin pieces of wood that are glued together to create the empty solid. The eight-faced solid allows each solid to have eight different concepts on the same topic. Every face has its own word that is placed into the transparent plastic binder and that can be removed to change its meaning. Every solid on each column represents one topic related to the schools curriculum and is replicated in every language.
All columns are placed next to each other matching the topics on each row.
The columns are made with 160cm steel tubes buried into the ground (60cm down), preventing it from moving. Wider diameter tubes of PVC are placed on the tubes, providing rotation for each solid.
When they are placed together, the solids can rotate and the children can match the meanings of each word, subsequently learning them in English or other languages.
This project is now placed in the Child Friendly Space of Light House Relief in the camp and is used alongside its curriculum.
