Project Details

Hello, My name is Julia Mérida. I'm a 30 years old architect, from Guatemala. I work in a construction company that has been hired by a nonprofit organization called Glasswing. Glasswing intervenes in public schools in Guatemala, supporting them with extracurricular clubs with different themes in education and infrastructure improvements, with financial support from private entities. The organization focuses on improving kitchens, bathrooms and playgrounds. Many public schools are in conflict areas, violent and poor areas. I have had the opportunity to work with Glasswing in three schools from last year to today, and I hope to be many more. From the first school I was very involved in the projects, I have tried to give more than what they hired me because the cause has filled me in many emotional aspects. In two schools I've made playgrounds with recycle tires, guiding me with images taken from the Internet. It was something I had never done and I find fascinating and extremely profitable because we don´t have much money to build them. So I got you in my search for information to improve my playgrounds. Soon I will start work in another school so possibly I can not have your manuals because I will start the project tomorrow and ended in about 15 days, but I would like very much to have your support for the upcoming schools and projects on my own, in other communities where children do not have where to play, with no intention of receiving financial compensation. No need donations for these project, as Glasswing provides me the money for build the playgrounds and I design them for free, but We will appreciate tires donations!. Some Photos showing on this page were taken by photographers of Glasswing.  Thanks in advance for your attention and I apologize for my English, I used google translate haha. Have a good day!
