Project Details

My name is Naome and I am the Head of Education at Tree House Nursery in Siem Reap, Cambodia. This is a small, family run nursery with 43 enrolled children, ages 6 months to 5 years old. 

Play-based schools here in Cambodia, especially in Siem Reap, is still a developing concept. There is a big need for children to have more access to play, not just with the ones in our nursery, but also to the older children, attending "proper" schools and have a need to just PLAY.

We have recently began renting a small ground beside our nursery, and we want to develop it into a nice, adventure playground that's suitable for children below 12 years. We need your help in design and layout, because it's a small place and we want to maximize it.

My passion is to raise more awareness of how play is important in early childhood. There is a great need for it here in Cambodia, particularly in Siem Reap where even toddlers are required to sit in chairs for hours and "learn". The Tree House Nursery owners and I want to spark a paradigm shift in early childhood school systems and provide a place for children to JUST PLAY.
