Safe Space for Kids of Uvita

Forjando Alas ("Building Wings") is a youth center in Uvita de Osa, Costa Rica. Because of its coastal location, this small rural town is a hotspot for drug trafficking and violence. Children often drop out of school to enter into the drug trade and many suffer from abuse and neglect at home. We offer a safe place for kids to learn life skills and do alternative activities to promote self-esteem and healthy living. Our goal is to build a **fun** and **interactive** educational playground using mostly recycled materials. Surrounding the playground will be an edible schoolyard. Kids will care for the gardens and bring home vegetables to learn about healthy living.
