What I am dreaming of for this playground is; a place where the kids in the orphanage can learn and know what they are capable of. Where they can Learn about working together, about their own creative power, and that they are capable of doing something. I think that one way to accomplish this and would also be profitable to this region, is to give at least part of the playground a focus on farming. I think a farm setting will create a sensory learning environment that gives a child a sense of his/her self worth, an understanding of natural systems and a love of nature.

I know the project will include several types of fruit trees/shrubs, as fruit is something that is lacking in their diet.

I want to give them things to make, perhaps some large foam blocks they can build with. I want to make something they can climb on, maybe a stump spiral, a place to play soccer/rugby for the older kids. I want to have a place where they can grow plants on their own and play in the dirt, Maybe a vine tunnel, a tire swing. I saw something in Chattanooga, TN once, a big grouping of random metal objects that were all welded into a structure with sticks attached with wire to make a drum set that 5 kids could play at once! it was very cool. All of my structures will be made out of recycled lumber and tires, trees, stumps, scraps etc.

I am going to divide the space into three sections to focus on different age groups, with the youngest in the middle so that older kids can watch out for the younger ones.
