In Matagalpa, Nicaragua, these San Francisco Bay Area high school students chose to create a recycled tire playground for their community service component of the leadership and learning-focused Global Glimpse trip. This included student-led fundraising, researching the needs, buying the materials, and delegating responsibilities. Volunteers and students worked together to use 16 tires, cement, sand, shovels, and pickaxes to create the playground. The teachers and students were grateful for the playground, new school supplies including a whiteboard, money toward installing electricity, and playground toys.
