Organisation: St. Monica Girls Tailoring Centre
Project Budget: $15,000
This outdoor toddler playground was built at the daycare of St. Monica Girls’ Tailoring Centre. St. Monica’s is a residential women’s vocational skills training program in Northern Uganda, serving young women affected by the war in Northern Uganda. Women are allowed to live at the centre with their children, who attend the daycare while they are in classes. The daycare playground design used natural and recycled materials to engage children in stimulating sensory play. Engraved patterns topped concrete balance beams nestled beside hammock swings, a large sand play area, an outdoor drawing blackboard, and a low concrete and tile slide.
