Project Details
Plan Zambia is implementing a model of community managed early childhood care and development (ECCD) that empowers parents, caregivers, teachers and local communities to better care for and stimulate children ages 0-8 years, and in particular, the marginalized and vulnerable groups in 12 target communities of Chadiza and Chibombo districts of Zambia. Using the Community Led Action for Children (CLAC) approach, the project engages parents, ECCD centre caregivers and management committees, local partners and community members to understand children's needs, how to address them and how to ultimately improve their survival, development and learning. The project supports parenting groups, early learning centres and transitions to primary school activities to help ensure children in target communities are prepared for school and for life.
The overall objective of the project is to enhance support of all children aged 0 to 8 years to ensure development to their full potential.
