Community Playground for Vulnerable Children in Rural Mozambique

I'm volunteering with Wupuwela, a community-based organization in rural Mozambique, that works primarily in the areas of home-based care for people living with HIV/AIDS, women's health and gender roles, as well as providing activities, educational information in the areas of health and nutrition (to name a few), social support and other services to vulnerable children in the community of Metarica. We are building a house/center for these children- who often have trouble at home, are either ill or caring for an ill parent, have lost a parent, are falling behind in schoolwork as they have to take care of most of the chores at home, were victims of some form of abuse, etc.- so they have a safe and carefree place to play, receive help with homework, socialize with other children, participate in educational sessions and just be a kid!! As part of thisnutrition/health/fitness outreach, we'd like to construct a small playground in the yard of the new office/center. Although the location is at Wupuwela, the playground will be open and available to ALL children in the community of Metarica.
