Project Details
Repair and expand existing community central park playground. Current facilities include a deteriorated full basketball court with one end only safe to play on. Other area is a junior futbol court on which it now has two portable goals and a tire swing. A portable bench has been constructed and will be positioned July 15th, 2013. The park land is extremely degraded due to existing "caves" and it has been estimated that 150 dump trucks of "marl" (degraded limestone must be brought in and packed to correct the problem and further degradation. Plans are to eventually break up the existing oversized double court and replace with an affordable half court slab. All aspects of this project will be approved and supevised by The Village Council of Consejo as per Belize Law. The council would definitely welcome a joint project with an NGO. Consejo is a buffer community located in a designated marine wildlife sactuary.
