Project Details
One of 9 playgrounds to be built by EAP this summer in the suburbs of Jinja, Uganda. In this first month, 3 playgrounds are being built at one time in different schools in the surrounding rural area. Madrasat is a small local school, with a student body of less than 200. The schools is small, with few classrooms, but with a large area of land surrounding it, in front and behind. The plot of land is to be used to create a range of different playground elements which have been chosen by the children and the school during community consultations that took place in the months running up the project start date. 12 UK volunteers are working on site to aid the build.
Madrasat will have a range of imaginative tyre features and climbers, as well as a tunnel, football pitch and climbing frame and swing set structures. The large area of land to be be used has been carefully considered and incorporating a football pitch will give opportunity for a great range of active and imaginative play.
