Guihulngan South Central School is a public school in Negros Oriental Philippines. It has recently opened a new Science Elementary Program last year with grades 1 to 4 . This year the 5th grade will also be open. There will be around 150 science elementary kids that will be coming to school this June 2019.
The challenge of keeping the kids interested in school in general and enhancing their emotional, social, mental and physical abilities has always been our goal.
Due to space limitations the new school is designated in an portion of the old school where the area gets flooded every time we experience heavy rains to the point where we have knee high water that gets into the classroom.
We are placed in a position where we need to develop a playground where we can also solve the flooding issue at the same time. Currently we are spending about P50,000(approx $1300 Au) for filling materials for raise the ground level and creating ground contours to control the water flow away from the classrooms. We got the funds from the recent Parents Teachers Association fund raising program with the help of the children themselves.
We also submitted a proposal to raise the floor levels of the classrooms and make building repairs.
With these conditions, we are hoping to get support form the the world to help us have a safe and more conducive learning environment for our children this coming start of classes in June 2019.
