Nicaraguan Playground - Honors Distinction Project

Project Details

As part of my honors distinction project I am leading a small group of college students to a small rural community in Nicaragua to build a playground for a local school. This school currently has no playground, and has asked the government for assistance in getting a playground for quite some time now. I've been in this community several times before - a week during my freshman year building latrines for homes, two months this past summer doing research on socioeconomic status and the sustainability of community, and hopefully a week this upcoming January to build this playground. We have several interested students who are very excited to go make a difference, all we are missing now is the monetary ability to make that difference.
