Project Details

The Majuro Cooperative School ("Co-op") is located in the heart of downtown Majuro, in the Republic of the Marshall Islands ("RMI"). As a developing nation, the RMI faces many challenges, including the availability of appropriate educational opportunities for its youth. The school's website is: www.majurocooperativeschool.org Co-op school serves students in Pre-K through 12th grades, and is currently fundraising to build a new playground on its campus. One of only two existing playgrounds on island, the school's current playground is very old and parts of the existing structures have become dangerous for play. Land is very scarce in the Marshalls. Majuro Atoll has a landmass of only 3.75 square miles, but is home to roughly 28,000 people. Of those 28,000, the majority of the population is under the age of 15. A new structure would benefit not only students in attendance at the school, but serve as a park for children from neighboring communities.
