Do you want your teachers to use play more in and out of the classroom?
Around the world, we've met countless inspiring teachers, creatively working amidst challenges of resource scarcity and overflowing class sizes to ensure the children in their care receive the best education possible. These tenacious men and women remind us of the power teachers have to positively impact a child's future and of the role they can play to ensure students have adequate time and space for play.
This year, thanks to a grant from the U.S. Play Coalition, we've been working on a "Play Training Manual," specifically focused on the challenges teachers in the developing world face. The manual will be a basic introduction to the importance of play and how a teacher or childcare worker can use the resources and play traditions within their own culture to support play for healthy child development.
In the next step of the project, we'll be soliciting partners to test the manual in a teacher training workshop in their community and give us feedback to improve the resource. If your organization is interesting in being a pilot partner, let's talk! Get in touch with elizabeth(at)playgroundideas(dot)org.
